Metal Stamping Dies and the manufacturing processes

What is Die Stamping?

Die stamping is a metal processing process that places a metal sheet in a punch machine and uses a mold to apply pressure to the metal sheet to cause it plastically deform and ultimately form the desired part. Die stamping is an efficient and high-precision processing method, which is widely used in automobiles, home appliances, electronic products and other industries.

In the die stamping process, a suitable mold is first designed, then the metal plate is placed on the punch. And the punch exerts impact force on the metal plate, causing the metal plate to bend, stretch, compress and other deformations under the action of the mold. Finally, It is formed the required parts. Die stamping can process various parts with complex shapes, has high production efficiency and relatively low cost. It is widely used.

Die stamping manufacturing processes

Progressive Die Stamping

In progressive die stamping, a sheet of metal is unrolled, fed into a press, and passed through different stations, each of which performs one or more metalworking processes (such as cutting, bending, and punching). During the entire process, the sheet metal remains in the transfer system of the stamping machine and the part remains connected to its base belt.

The workpiece stops at each station and then moves forward. After die stamping is completed, the press moves upward and the sheet moves horizontally in the bed. As the workpiece passes through various work stations, the part gradually takes shape.

Transfer Die Stamping

In transfer die stamping, the workpiece is first separated from the metal sheet and then transferred from one stamping station to another. The separated materials can be fed to different presses, allowing manufacturers to produce multiple parts simultaneously.

Compound Die Stamping

In compound die stamping, the die can perform multiple operations such as cutting, bending and punching in a single downward stroke. The sheets are continuously fed into the press, and the finished parts are ejected from the metal belt. A single stroke can create multiple cuts and holes in the workpiece.

Stamping die play an important role in modern industrial production. It is not only used to produce parts, but also to effectively reduce costs and improve production efficiency. The use of high-precision stamping dies can not only ensure the accuracy and stability of production, but also greatly improve production efficiency and speed up the production rhythm.
